How do you know if you have a bad fuel pump in your car? i have a 1993 ford probe and it wont start...?

Here in the shop we would put a guage on it but as was suggested earlier you can usually hear it run for about 3 seconds when the key is turned to the run position. A easier way to hear it is to have some one turn the key to run while you take the gas cap off and listen some of them are not loud enoughf to hear from the drivers seat. Do not fear if you dont hear it run. fuel pump replacements are not as expensive as they were years ago and there are other things that could be the culprit. If you can not hear it run check the fuel pump shut off switch almost all fords have them and you can find its location in your owners manual. Try resetting it as shown in the owners manual (usually you just push the red on in on a Ford)
